Acer Recalls Thousands Of Notebooks Over Burn Concerns
Acer, along with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, said about 22,000 units would need to be recalled after the PC maker had received three reports of computers short circuiting, resulting in slight melting of the external casing. No incidents occurred in the United States and no injuries have been reported, the Safety Commission said. Apple To Investigate Europe’s Exploding iPhones
The reported incident in Liverpool, follows the apparent emergence of similar cases in the US. Late last month, a reporter from Seattle's KIRO TV station reported how the station used the Freedom of Information Act to get the Consumer Product Safety Commission to turn over 800-pages which referred to issues of iPods overheating. Apple Signs Deal For Liquid Metal Alloys
As first noted by the blog Apple Insider, Liquidmetal Technologies filed a Form 8-K with the Securities and Exchange Commission on 5 Aug, noting that substantially all of its intellectual property assets had been contributed to a wholly-owned subsidiary, which in turn had granted Apple the rights to use those assets in consumer electronics.
